WESTINSTER ICE SKATERS COMPETE AT SOUTHWEST PACIFIC REGIONALS
Westminster ICE figure skaters competed in the 2017 Southwest Pacific Regionals in Arizona -
the first qualifying event on the road to Nationals.
Ten year old Gerald Hsu won the 2017 Southwest Pacific Regional Championships in
the Juvenile Boys event along with 4 Special Achievement awards. Twin brother Thomas won the Bronze medal in the same event. Both boys train at Westminster ICE with coaches Doug
Chapman and Dianne DeLeeuw.
Vanna Giang won the Silver Medal in Senior Ladies and Nhi Do won Silver in Junior Ladies. Both advance to Pacific Coast Sectionals in Utah along with Juvenile Champion, Gerald Hsu and Juvenile Bronze Medalist, Thomas Hsu. Victoria Giang placed 6th in the Senior division. All are coached by Doug Chapman and Dianne DeLeeuw at Westminster ICE.
Devon Feicht, coached by Sarah Sherman also competed in the Intermediate event.

WESTMINSTER ICE HAS NEW GOLD MEDALIST!
Westminster ICE has a new Gold Medalist! Vanna Giang, Team USA representative at 2016 Youth Olympics passed her US Figure Skating Senior Freeskate test. This makes 2 Double Gold Medalists in the Giang Family as sister Victoria passed hers earlier this year. Both girls are coached by Doug Chapman and Dianne DeLeeuw.

ANAHEIM DUCKS LEARN TO PLAY PROGRAM
The Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Program presented by Bauer is back, giving all first-time hockey players the chance to get on the rink (ice or inline) in full hockey equipment for FREE! Participants receive instruction from The Rinks coaching staff on how to skate properly while implementing some of the basic skills in hockey such as passing, shooting, and stick handling.
The Learn to Play Program is a (4) four week session geared toward participants 10 years old and younger (due to equipment sizes). Each participant is provided with an equipment bag, helmet, shin guards, hockey pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves, stick and a jersey, which they get to keep during the duration of the session, giving them the opportunity to practice what they have learned between each session. Skate rentals are provided for free at each rink as well. The use of full hockey equipment allows participants to get the feel of skating in full hockey gear, allowing them to experience the sport as a whole without taking on the financial commitment of purchasing all the equipment.
Participants who complete the Learn to Play program and continue on to a paid program within The Rinks will receive a FREE, complete set of Mission/Bauer equipment to keep courtesy of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.
