STREET CLOSURES IN THE RINKS ANAHEIM ICE AREA
Due to the Disney Half Marathons being held September 3-6, 2015, there will be street closures in The Rinks Anaheim ICE vicinity.  Please allow extra time when traveling to The Rink during the Labor Day weekend.

CLOSURES IN THE RINKS ANAHEIM ICE AREA
The street and circle in front of The Rinks Anaheim ICE will be closed for palm tree maintenance on Thursday, September 10 and Friday, September 11.  Closure will begin at 7:00am on both days and will extend to Monday, September 14 if needed.  Please allow extra time for arrival to The Rinks on both days.

HOMESCHOOL LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY SESSIONS AT THE RINKS
The Rinks will be hosting three homeschool Learn to Play Hockey sessions for children ages 4-18 at The Rinks - Irvine Inline, The Rinks - Lakewood ICE and The Rinks - Yorba Linda ICE in September. These 4-week sessions will teach children the basics of skating as well as hockey fundamentals. For more information and to register, click here.

GLACIAL FALLS SUMMER CLASSIC RESULTS
Glacier Falls Summer Classic was one of the largest events in the US, featuring Olympians and skaters from all over the world competing at Anaheim ICE! Westminster ICE skaters won several medals. In Jr Ladies, Vanna Giang was the lone qualifier from Southern Calif, finishing in 5th place. Nhi Do placed 2nd in her qualifier and won Bronze in the Novice Finals. Gerald Hsu placed 4th, Juvenile Boys. Bethanie Luu won Silver in Pre-Preliminary, McKaylin Mangagil was 4th. Maddie Bendzick 2nd in No Test, Sarah Bendzick 4th in High beginner, and Diana Fernandez won 1st place in Silver Ladies.

Next event was Silicon Valley held at Sharks Ice in San Jose. Once again Westminster ICE skaters dominated! McKaylin Mangagil won the special outstanding Pre-Preliminary Trophy. Vanna Giang 1st in Jr Ladies, Nhi Do 1st in Novice, Gerald and Thomas Hsu 2nd and 3rd in Juvenile, Maddie Bendzick 1st No Test and Sarah Bendzick 2nd in Limited No Test.

At the Orange County Open held at The Rinks Yorba Linda ICE, younger skaters won several awards: Bethanie Luu 2nd and Ashley Nguyen 4th in Pre-Preliminary, Emily Do 1st and Ariel Phou 3rd in No Test. Medal winning skaters are coached at Westminster by Dianne DeLeeuw and Doug Chapman.

WESTMINSTER SCORES BIG AT THE SO CAL INTERCLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Rising star Vanna Giang posted the highest recorded Jr Ladies score in the US this season: 143.16 to win Jr Ladies more than 40 points ahead of her rivals! Other Trophy Winners were: Andie Nguyen 1st place Basic 6, Emelie Luu 1st place Basic 8, Sarah Bendzick 4th High Beginner, Maddie Bendzick 1st place No Test, Pre-Preliminary skaters: Bethanie Luu 3rd place, McKaylin Mangagil and Ashley Nguyen both 4th place.

Juvenile Boys: Gerald Hsu 1st in SP, 3rd in FS. Thomas Hsu 2nd in SP and FS. Nhi Do placed 1st in SP, 2nd in Novice FS. Skaters coached at Westminster Ice by Dianne DeLeeuw and Doug Chapman.

Westminster assistant coach Chelsea Suddock placed 1st in Artistic. Coached by Teri Ballard. Francis Correia, coached by Jim Stuart won Adult Bronze. Westminster skaters in the event: Victoria Giang, Devon Feicht, Ariel Phou, Madeline Tran, Taleah Bozanick, and Andrea Brown. Westminster also represented by coaches Sarah Sherman, Tracy Primrose, Tiffany Chun.



MONDAY NIGHT ADULT SKILLS CLINIC
Adult Skills Clinics are back at The Rinks Lakewood ICE on Monday nights! These weekly sessions offer professional instruction from our Rinks Coaching Staff on skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting skills. The cost is $20 per participant - pay as you skate! ANAHEIM DUCKS LEARN TO PLAY PROGRAM
The Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Program presented by Bauer is back, giving all first-time hockey players the chance to get on the rink (ice or inline) in full hockey equipment for FREE!  Participants receive instruction from The Rinks coaching staff on how to skate properly while implementing some of the basic skills in hockey such as passing, shooting, and stick handling.

The Learn to Play Program is a (4) four week session geared toward participants 10 years old and younger (due to equipment sizes). Each participant is provided with an equipment bag, helmet, shin guards, hockey pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves, stick and a jersey, which they get to keep during the duration of the session, giving them the opportunity to practice what they have learned between each session. Skate rentals are provided for free at each rink as well. The use of full hockey equipment allows participants to get the feel of skating in full hockey gear, allowing them to experience the sport as a whole without taking on the financial commitment of purchasing all the equipment.
 
Participants who complete the Learn to Play program and continue on to a paid program within The Rinks will receive a FREE, complete set of Mission/Bauer equipment to keep courtesy of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.
