JUNIOR DUCKS CHOSEN TO PLAY WITH USNTDP TEAM
North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) and Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U forward Justin Dixson was given the opportunity to play this past weekend for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (NTDP) 17 Team in their weekend home games against the Chicago Steel.  To read more, click here.

RISING STAR AT THE RINKS WESTMINSTER ICE HEADS TO NATIONALS
Pacifica High School freshman Nhi Do will be competing in the 2015 US Figure Skating National Championships Jan. 17-25 in Greensboro, N.C. Competing as an Intermediate Lady Nhi holds the highest score recorded in the nation this year of 110.38 which she achieved winning the Southwest Pacific Regional Championship.This qualified her for the Pacific Coast Sectionals in which Nhi placed 2nd.

Nhi trains every morning and afternoon at The Rinks-Westminster Ice with World and Olympic Coach Doug Chapman and 1976 Olympic Silver Medalist Dianne DeLeeuw. This past year Nhi has won 7 major events at the Intermediate level including the Southern California Interclub Finals. She also became a US Figure Skating Gold Medalist this year by completing her Senior Moves test.

NAHL ANNOUNCES 16U APEX LEARNING VIRTUAL SCHOOL PEAK PERFORMER
Timothy Huxen, Anaheim Jr. Ducks has been announced as the #1 16U Apex Learning Virtual School Peak Performer (Goaltender) for the month of December.

The Anaheim Jr. Ducks kept pace with Omaha atop of the 16U Division thanks to a 5-0 record at the event in Blaine. 16-year-old netminder Timothy Huxen got the start in three of the games and won all three, allowing just three goals in the process. The native of Bakersfield, CA, faced a total of 42 shots in the three games and stopped 39 of them. Huxen (5’10/156) began the event with 13 saves in a 6-2 win over the Arizona Bobcats. The next day, Huxen made 14 saves in a 3-1 win over the Green Bay Jr. Gamblers. He finished the event with his second shutout of the season, as he made 12 saves in a 6-0 win over Pikes Peak. For the season, Huxen has an 8-1 record and ranks 4th in the 16U Division in both goals against average (1.67) and save percentage (92.3%).

NAHL Event Scouting Report on Huxen: “He moves well and competes every time he is out there. He battles to see puck all the time and controls his rebounds well.”

Adult Skills Clinics are back at The Rinks Lakewood ICE on Monday nights! These weekly sessions offer professional instruction from our Rinks Coaching Staff on skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting skills. The cost is $20 per participant - pay as you skate! ANAHEIM DUCKS LEARN TO PLAY PROGRAM
The Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Program presented by Bauer is back, giving all first-time hockey players the chance to get on the rink (ice or inline) in full hockey equipment for FREE!  Participants receive instruction from The Rinks coaching staff on how to skate properly while implementing some of the basic skills in hockey such as passing, shooting, and stick handling.

The Learn to Play Program is a (4) four week session geared toward participants 10 years old and younger (due to equipment sizes). Each participant is provided with an equipment bag, helmet, shin guards, hockey pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves, stick and a jersey, which they get to keep during the duration of the session, giving them the opportunity to practice what they have learned between each session. Skate rentals are provided for free at each rink as well. The use of full hockey equipment allows participants to get the feel of skating in full hockey gear, allowing them to experience the sport as a whole without taking on the financial commitment of purchasing all the equipment.
 
Participants who complete the Learn to Play program and continue on to a paid program within The Rinks will receive a FREE, complete set of Mission/Bauer equipment to keep courtesy of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.
