WHAT IS CURLING?
Curling is a team sport for all ages and abilities. The object of the game is for two teams of four players to slide 42 lb granite rocks down a sheet of ice toward a target. A unique aspect of the sport is the concept of sweeping. Players vigorously sweep or brush the ice in front of the rock to keep it moving. The friction caused by sweeping polishes and briefly heats the surface of the ice, which makes the rocks travel farther and straighter.
